Manhattan weddings run tighter than anywhere else — strict load-in windows, hard curfews and rooms with neighbours. Planning for that is most of the work.
Manhattan venues run on schedules that don't move. Load-in windows are measured in minutes, freight elevators are shared with the rest of the building, and many rooms have a hard curfew written into your contract.
That means the night has to be planned backwards from the end. If the music stops at eleven, the last dance, the send-off and any effects all have to land before it — with enough margin that a speech running long doesn't cost you the finish you wanted.
We build the timeline with the venue's real constraints in it, and we hold it on the night. That's the MC's job as much as the DJ's.
A rooftop with residential buildings across the street, or a hotel ballroom with guest rooms above it, comes with sound limits that are enforced rather than suggested.
Working inside those limits is entirely possible — it just requires a system aimed and levelled deliberately rather than pointed at the far wall and turned up. A well-set room at a moderate volume feels better than a badly-set one that's loud. Most people can't articulate the difference, but everybody feels it.
