Three venues,
one property

Perona Farms is not one room with a few configurations. It is three genuinely different buildings — The Barn, The Refinery and The Reserve — on a 57-acre estate that has been in the same family for five generations and hosting weddings for over a century.

So the honest answer to "what will you bring?" is that it depends entirely which one you have booked. A barn with a vaulted ceiling and a converted industrial space with brick and steel are opposite acoustic problems. Quoting the same package for both would mean getting at least one of them wrong.

Overall the estate handles anywhere from thirty guests to two hundred and seventy-five, which is a very wide range. We spec to your room and your headcount rather than to a price list.

The Barn — and the
uplighting you don't need

The Barn seats up to 200 under a vaulted reception space, with the iconic silos outside and a fully covered patio and outdoor bar.

Here is the part most vendors will not lead with: The Barn has built-in uplighting already installed. If you are in that room, you may not need to buy uplighting from us at all, and we would rather tell you that up front than sell you fixtures that duplicate what the venue provides. What we do instead is work with what is there — matching our colours to the house system so the room reads as one design rather than two competing ones.

The vaulted ceiling is the sound consideration. Height gives you a lovely open feel and a long reflection path, which flatters music and works against speech. Toasts in a room like that need sources close to the guests rather than one loud system at the front, or the words arrive slightly smeared at the far tables.

The covered patio and outdoor bar are effectively a second room. If guests will be out there, it needs its own coverage — loud enough to feel part of the party, quiet enough that people can talk.

The Refinery — brick,
steel and a moving roof

The Refinery was redesigned in 2020 into an industrial space: exposed brick, steel and concrete, seating 170 or well over 200 for a cocktail-style reception. It looks superb and it is acoustically the hardest room on the property.

Brick, steel and concrete absorb almost nothing. Sound bounces, speech loses definition first, and the standard reaction — turn it up — makes it measurably worse. The fix is distributed sound at controlled levels, aimed at the guests rather than at the surfaces, so intelligibility survives.

The Refinery also has a retractable roof and operable walls, which is genuinely unusual and worth planning around. A room that is open to the sky behaves completely differently from the same room closed: with the roof open there is far less reflection and sound simply leaves, and when it closes the reflections come back. If the roof is going to move during your reception, we want to know when, because it changes the room mid-event.

The Atrium ceremony space with its green wall and string lighting, the terrace and loggia for cocktails, and the lounge each need their own coverage. That is a multi-space plan, not one system.
