One wedding played in Flanders. A Morris County ballroom wedding, run on a format with its own timing and lighting demands.
A room that takes its name from its chandelier has already made a design decision for you, and it is one that matters for lighting. A strong fixed light source in the middle of a ceiling changes what uplighting and effects can do, because you are no longer working on a dark canvas.
That is not a limitation so much as a brief. Uplighting in a brightly-lit room needs higher-output fixtures and more deliberate placement to read at all, and a room like this usually looks better with fewer, better-placed colours than with a wash all the way round. Dance-floor effects need to be bright enough to compete or they look like nothing happened.
Any company that quotes you the same lighting package here as they would for a dark banquet room has not looked at the room.
Beyond the ceiling, this is a Morris County ballroom wedding: a cocktail hour in its own space, a formal introduction, a reception running on courses with the dance floor opening and closing between them.
The recurring risk is the same one it is everywhere — cocktail hour runs long, introductions land late, and the room's energy gets spent before the first dance. The answer is a timeline written and agreed with the venue in advance, with the compression decision made by you beforehand.
We have played one wedding here. What transfers is eighteen years of this format rather than deep knowledge of this specific building.
Lighting specified for a bright room rather than a dark one. A written timeline shared with the venue and your photographer. Names checked for pronunciation. Curfew and fire-effect permissions confirmed with the venue in writing. DJ and MC as one job with one point of contact.
Flanders is about an hour from us, so travel is in the quote from the start and we load in early.
Only with higher-output fixtures and deliberate placement. A standard package designed for a dark room mostly disappears here, which is why the lighting should be quoted to the room rather than off a list.
One. We would rather give you the real number than imply a longer history.
Yes, one job and one contract. It is the most commonly separated line item in this business, so ask every company directly.
Only in that we build it into the quote up front and load in early, rather than adding travel later or arriving tight.
Also considering somewhere else? These are rooms we have written up.
“He even played songs that brought us back.”
