Wedding DJ at
Da Noi

A wedding and an engagement party played here. A restaurant wedding is a different discipline from a ballroom, and most of the difference is restraint.

A restaurant wedding
runs on restraint

A restaurant is not a small ballroom. It is a room built for conversation over food, and the fastest way to ruin a wedding in one is to bring a ballroom rig into it.

In a room like this the sound system should be nearly invisible for most of the night. Dinner is a conversation, not a set. Speakers go where they cover people without dominating the room, the volume sits under the talking rather than over it, and the gear footprint stays small because floor space is the scarcest thing in the building.

We have played two events here, a wedding and an engagement party. The job is knowing when to stop, which is a less marketable skill than knowing what to play and a more useful one.

The dance floor is
wherever you decide it is

Most restaurants do not have a permanent dance floor, which means one gets made — usually by moving tables, usually in a specific spot the venue already has in mind. Where it goes determines where the speakers go, where the booth goes, and how the night actually feels.

That is a conversation to have with the restaurant in advance, not a decision to make at seven in the evening with guests in the room. We ask, and we plan the setup around the answer.

Smaller rooms also need less lighting than people expect. A handful of well-placed fixtures reads beautifully in an intimate space; a full wash of colour makes it look like a different kind of venue entirely.

What we bring
to this room

A small-footprint setup specified for a restaurant, not a scaled-down ballroom rig. A written timeline agreed with the venue and your photographer. Names checked for pronunciation. One point of contact throughout.

And the load-in and floor plan settled with the restaurant in advance, because in a room this size there is no spare space to improvise into.

Questions couples ask

Have you worked Da Noi before?

Yes, two events — a wedding and an engagement party.

Will a DJ be too loud for a restaurant?

Not if the setup is specified for the room. For most of the night the system should sit under the conversation rather than over it, with a small footprint and speakers aimed at people rather than walls.

There is no dance floor. How does that work?

One gets made, usually by moving tables, and usually in a spot the restaurant already has in mind. We settle that with them in advance because it determines where everything else goes.

How much lighting does a room this size need?

Less than you would think. A few well-placed fixtures suit an intimate room; a full colour wash makes it read like a banquet hall.
